Level of involvement in the project: partner, collecting and analyzing the whole current data for the Region by municipalities.
- E-government in the Gabrovo region
Location: The Regional administration and four municipalities Sevlievo, Gabrovo, Tryavna and Dryanovo, 2003
Aim of the project: providing conditions for direct on-line communication between the Systems for registration and transfer of documentation;
Project Results: improved communication at inter-institutional level and enhanced efficiency in the processing of documents and the administrative services;
Level of involvement in the project: Regional administration was the leading partner.

Location: The Regional administration and four municipalities Sevlievo, Gabrovo, Tryavna and Dryanovo, 2003
Partners in the project: FLGI /Foundation for Local Government Initiatives/, GCCI /Gabrovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry/, ASME /Agency for Small and Medium-size Enterprises/ and NA. Project for overcoming the administrative barriers to business of DFID /Department for International Development/.
Project results: improved delivery of administrative and information services to existing and beginning entrepreneurs;
Level of involvement in the project: As a partner in the project the Regional Governor provided 1. Main co-ordination between the partners in the project – local and regional authorities, territorial sections of the central administrations; 2. Organizing the development of operative data-base and the introducing the software programme.
- Development of an Asset Management Strategy, aimed at more efficient management of state property in Gabrovo region.
Project results: 1) institutionalisation of an Asset Management Working Group 2) preparation of full inventory of the state assets 3) gathering of financial performance data for each separate asset 4) preparation of market evaluations for the assets and 5) initiating of a market monitoring system that includes development of Rent map and Price (land and buildings) Map for the town of Gabrovo 6) Classification and maintenance of the assets in terms of their legal and financial status and their future use 7) a detailed Asset Management Plan for one of the largest administrative buildings 8) analysis of 138 000 BGN investment in the building, necessary to meet the national fire-safety requirements 9) preparation of a comprehensive Asset Management Strategy
Level of involvement in the project: The regional administration was a partner in the project with an active participation in each step of the strategy development. Nine experts from “State property”, “Regional development and territorial Planning” and “Accounting” departments participated in the Asset Management Working Group.
Regional administration received direct technical support. All costs related to the project were covered by LGI and were not subject to negotiation with or disclosure to the Regional Governor.
- BRANDING GABROVO REGION: “TRAVELLING THROUGH THE UNKNOWN REVIVAL” – 2003-2004
The specific project objective is the creation of an integrated cultural route in Gabrovo region as a regional tourist product of pilot character. It is intended to function as part of the trans-European cultural routes. The problems addressed cover: the lack of integrated tourist product, the insufficient funding for cultural tourism, the low service quality and low competitiveness of the offered tourist products, the insufficient administrative and management capacity of project partners as well as the lack of consistent policy for the development of cultural tourism at regional and local level. Main project activities include: restoration and renovation of cultural sites, creation of electronic data-bank, preparation of market survey, preparation and distribution of printed and electronic materials, organization of specialized training courses, development of simulations and attractions and publicity campaign.
